A moment spent alone doing something you enjoyed @ 4:57 AM
Last Saturday after completing my homework, i decided to do something fun. i played chinese chess online. Although I'm a Malay, I have the skill to play well. I started to play when i was primary 6. Even though i was a late bloomer, i have the talent to excel as a good player. I started to play this sport for fun. However, my interest didn't stay at leisure level. Instead, i took one step further, i joined the chess club. From there, my skills improved as i played with other people. Also, we have a professional coach. he's the only one to be shown on television for chinese chess.
With his help, my thinking skills improved tremendously. The results are shown every time i enter a competition. Even though i screwed up my first competition, i wasn't deterred to strive for better results. Now every time i participate in a competition, i would be able to win at least 4. That is the average number of points we're suppose to get for every competition no matter who our opponent is.(Exception Hwa Chong)
However, winning at chess is a difficult thing. For players who are not experienced in battling new people, they tend to be more nervous and cause themselves to go into a panic state. Once one is in this state, the person is unable to focus and will eventually lose. :( . Also, tactics and traps are the key points of this game. Without them, one will only have to depend on his own thinking skills to spring all of these traps. But, the most important thing is to not repeat the same mistake when playing,
Now, I'm left in front of my computer playing. Hopefully one day i might be a professional player and represent Singapore in an international competition.
